Climate destablization? I dunno. Maybe just a freak season. We've had some flooding here too, though not as bad as those, I think.
As to the question WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD?! I'd go with a general lack of rational thought.

Regarding the flooding and the volcano-ing and the general environment? Scientists call it the climate change. It sucks, and is probably gonna keep on getting worse. I say we invest in green energy, but also invest in some form of survival kit for living on Mars.
Regarding what exactly is wrong with the world? Lack of rational thought, maybe. Although to be honest, I like to believe that the world is becoming a better place everyday. If only higher standards of education could be provided to more people across the globe, and if education itself didn't have such a bad impression on students, a lot less violence would happen.

I second the Mars plan. ((although I will note that volcanoing...shouldn't be all that affected by climate change)).
Education reform is unfortunately a difficult form of aid to enact. Other things like food, are simple. Drop it off, job done. But with aiding global education reform so many things must occur perfectly to have it benefit the children. Still. it is something very much worth doing. Just the other day I read a newspaper article about schools set up in Pakistan as a half-way house for young jihadists who were caught--as opposed to locking them up and radicalizing them even more. That kind of stuff makes me hopeful.
Anyway, about the flooding, my condolences to everyone affected. Just heard about some more deaths in China and Pakistan due to flooding. And some sort of ship sunk in Indonesia? I don't know if that is connected to the flooding or not, but I hope they find most of those 90 people.

That is... quite an interesting theory. Do we have the technology though to do so?
