UK...do you mean to tell me you have never eated mexican food? HOW?!
...
A New Question:
What would be something that is taboo to talk about in your society? Interestingly, this differs a lot depending on where you are, and can lead to un-fun situations for travelers. Example, talking about politics. In some places it's commonplace, in others people look at you like you just cussed out their grandmother. Here in Wisssconsin, if you're in an urban place you can talk about politics so long as you are willing to get into a fight over it. In rural Wisconsin all disagreements must end in, "Well, that's what you think and that's fine, I don't want to hear about" As in, MAINTAIN THE NICENESS...DON'T THINK ABOUT THINGS...What are some things like that in your area?

Illegal immigration. :I No one agrees on how to deal with it. Then, of course, there are smaller things. I grew up among Mormons, so something taboo with them: drinking alcohol, getting tattoos, and not being Mormon. XD One of the reasons my grandma doesn't like me much. Besides that.... I don't know. There are different taboos depending on who you are with.

OH. MY. SCIENCE....FOLLOW SEALAND'S ADVICE...QUICKLY...BEFORE YOU DIE OR SOMETHING.
D:
...
Hm...really? In your experience just how taboo are subjects of politics and religion in the UK? Do you know if it is more or less than here (although..here varies quite a lot)? I mean, in what way do people avoid issues of religion, race, politics?
...I know that, for us at least, there was this whole "political correctness" movement, then there arrived the backlash to that movement, leaving us today in an odd system in which we can say whatever we want, unless it crosses a line, but even if it does some people will still defend you...so none of the lines matter in the first place? ... I dunno. It makes no sense at all.

I've had curry. And...uh, the nearest Mexican place is ages. Shall I go and commit suicide?
The whole political correctness still goes on. You don't speak about politics or religion to someone you've just met or mere acquaintances. And you should try to avoid it with friends unless the pair of you don't mind debating for a long time. (And even then it's best to start with 'I completely understand where you're coming from...but, and this is just my opinion, mind....' or something likewise.
